Italian Recipe - Bell Pepper Salad

Here is a great italian recipe for bell pepper salad that will add a new twist to the way you view salad. You can use this bell pepper salad in place of any salad or appetiser with your next meal. Or, for a light afternoon snack, double the recipe for bell pepper salad and increase the portions to make a great filling meal.

Ingredients

3 oz bacon, chopped
1 yellow pepper
1 orange pepper
7 radishes, washed and trimmed
1 celery stalk, finely chopped
3 plum tomatoes, cut into wedges
3 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp fresh thyme

Italian Cooking

  1. Dry fry the chopped bacon in a medium skillet until crispy. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
  2. Using a sharp knife, halve and seed the bell peppers. Slice the bell peppers into long strips.
  3. Using a sharp knife, halve the radishes and then cut them into wedges.
  4. Mix together the bell peppers, celery, radishes, and tomatoes.
  5. Toss the mixture in the olive oil and fresh thyme . Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  6. Transfer to serving plates and top with crispy bacon.
A tip which you can use when making this italian recipe for bell pepper salad is to use pre-diced bacon, which can be found in most super markets. While there are many types of tomaotes, small plum tomatoes are very flavorsome and add a great aroma to the salad.

Italian Recipe - Tuscany Onion Soup

This great italian recipe is a slight variation of the French counterpart, French Onion Soup. This Tuscany Onion Soup is a great italian recipe for any evening, and should be enjoyed casually with a crisp white wine.

Ingredients

2 oz Pancetta ham, diced
1 tbsp olive oil
4 large white onions, sliced thinly in rings (Spanish onions may be substituted)
3 garlic cloves, chopped
4 cups hot chicken or ham stock
4 slices of ciabatta or other Italian bread
3 tbsp butter
3 oz of Gruyere or Cheddar
Salt and Pepper

Italian Cooking

  1. Dry fry the pancetta in a large saucepan until it begins to brown (3-4 min)
  2. Remove the pancetta and set aside
  3. Add the olive oil to the pan and cook the onions and garlic over high heat for 4 minutes.
  4. Reduce heat and cover, cooking for about 15 minutes until lightly caramelized.
  5. Add the stock to the saucepan, bring to a boil. Then cover, reduce heat, and let simmer for 10 min.
  6. Toast the slices of ciabatta on both sides, butter, and top with Gruyere or cheddar.
  7. Cut the bread into bite size pieces
  8. Add the pancetta to the saucepan, and season to taste with salt and pepper.
  9. Pour into 4 soup bowls. Top with the toasted bread pieces.

To add to the flavor of this great italian recipe, you can add a little extra cheese to the top of the soup bowls. This hearty soup is great for almost any occasion. Tuscany Onion Soup makes for a great appetizer to almost any dish as well. Its easy to make, and your whole family will love it!

Italian Recipe - Italian Meatloaf Parmesan

Here is a great Italian Recipe that adds a new twist to the classic favorite, meatloaf. With some spices and parmesan cheese, overage meatloaf becomes an italian delite your whole family will enjoy!

Ingredients

1-1/2 lbs. ground beef
1 cup Italian style bread crumbs
3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
2/3 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
1 egg, slightly beaten
1-1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon oregano
1/2 cup barbeque sauce

Italian Cooking

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees farenheit.
  2. Combine all ingredients except the barbeque sauce and mix lightly.
  3. Place / press mixture into a medium loaf pan and bake for 45 minutes.
  4. Remove from oven.
  5. Spread barbeque sauce on top and bake for an additional 15 minutes.

You can serve this Italian Meatloaf with any number of sides, including corn, potatos, or my personal favorite, green beans. Mixed vegetables in general complement this Italian Meatloaf very well.

This meal is quick and easy to prepare, and your whole family will love the new Italian twist on their favorite Meatloaf.

Italian Recipe - Pizza Pasta

This is a fantastic Italian Recipe that is easy to make and quick to clean up. It's a simple addition to regular spaghetti that can spice up your regular old meal. This Italian Recipe is also great because it only takes a few, common extra ingredients.

Ingredients

2 cups cooked spaghetti (lightly sauced)
2 tbsp olive oil
2 eggs
2 egg whites
1 small onion, chopped
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup grated romano or parmesan
1/4 cup chopped parsley and basil (exact amount to taste)
pinch of salt / pepper (to taste)

Italian Cooking

  1. Heat olive oil in a frying pan and add onions. Saute until onions are lightly browned.
  2. Whisk together milk, eggs and egg whites in a bowl. Mix in the rest of the ingredients.
  3. Add the mixture to the fried onions and cook for about 5 minutes on medium-high heat to brown the bottom.
  4. Put a plate over the frying pan and flip it upside down. Slide the pizza pasta into the frying pan with a bit more oil to brown the other side.
  5. Serve and enjoy!
